Hey Guys, Legalize!

Posted on Apr 20th, 2008 by CalmEagle : pilgrim CalmEagle
Long a quiet advocate for pot decriminalization, especially for genuine medical uses, and a firm believer in liberty, I stumbled across this good article earlier today.  Healthier than either alcohol or tobacco, its leggal status has long been a mystery to me. Especially since there is so much money to be made by having it legal and regulated.

Maybe because of fear. Think about it, they keep us all agitated and fearful. If we were all smoking pot, we would mellow out and maybe, (gasp) think. Now they can't have us sitting around contemplating the universe and all its wonder. We might just start contemplating how the government uses us as pawns for their own ends.

Think about it for a moment. Back in the 60’s and 70’s when everyone was smoking pot but not inhaling, eh Bill, wink, wink, nod, nod, people actually started protesting against the war. They would sit there toking up and saying stuff like:
Whoa man, like, this war thing is whack.
Yeah, maybe we should do something about it.
Like what dude? I’m too tired to do anything right now.
I know, how about a sit-in. We could, like just sin there man. We could like chain ourselves to the doors and stuff.
Cool man. That could work.
And we could sing and write cool songs that say how we hate this war.
Groovy man, that could work.
What could we sing?
How about this man. Well it’s one, two, three, what are we fighting for, don’t ask me, I don’t give a damn, next stop will be Iran. And it’s five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates. There ain’t no time to wonder why, whoopie, we’re all gonna die.
(Apologies to Country Joe and the Fish and the Fixin’ to Die Rag)

Those protests were what brought an end to the Vietnam War. Why is there no outcry now? Why aren’t the college kids protesting like they did back then? Maybe because they fear the reaper. The government has instilled so much fear. Especially now with the talk of clandestine prisons where “agitators” could be whisked away in the night and locked up.
No, no, we can’t have anyone smoking pot. One of two things could happen, they could mellow out and think deep thoughts about bringing about change and a better world. Or their paranoia could increase so they go beyond looking over their shoulder and begin to strike back like a cornered animal.
